Burying the old

Today I attended a funeral. There were no tears, relief really. I had been working with a partner for three years trying to fight the war on illiteracy. We had a children's book store, we worked with teachers/librarians/parents. We planned, connected, prayed, engaged and no fruit to speak of up to this date. We decided today to have a burial. We buried the old and put everything on hold or obsolete until......we don't know. It was sad, emotionally tearing but necessary. There are times in your life that you need to acknowledge things are not working out as you planned. You need to be brave and courageous and call it as it is....not a failure....but a good swing with the bat. We know that this is the season for death and resurrection - Jesus was the bearer of that pain and victory. We are mirroring his movements 2000 years ago. We buried our dream today but we know with His help and guidance He can resurrect our ideas and dream in a totally different way. Nothing is wasted. We must be still and know that all the learning that took place will be used in some other form to move us ahead. It is exciting to entertain the thought what He designed me to be. May this be another step closer to fulfilling my destiny. We all have a purpose on this earth and before I die I want to fulfill that purpose. I only want to stand in front of Him and have Him say...."Well done, good and faithful servant." I will be complete when I hear those words. Today my dance had a black armband on its forearm but held me close as my dream was lowered into the ground.
