Although this picture is really not my puppy at the moment it is a picture of what is to come. When I chose Abby's name I was very particular with what I picked. Her first name Abby is a diminutive of Abigail. It means the Father rejoiced, the Father's joy and gives joy. That is precisely what I wanted her to do when she entered our home....bring joy to our family and hearts. The name Abigail is recorded in the Bible in the Old Testament. She was the wife of King David (Israel's greatest king) and was described as "good in discretion and beautiful in form." It is of Hebrew origin. Sounds good to me. Abby's second name is Grace. The name Grace is Latin in origin from the Latin word "gratia." It is often given in reference to the Christian concept of "divine grace" and is used as a virtue name. Not only did I want Abby to have grace and beauty .... I needed grace and wisdom to raise her. When I feed her every few hours, have interrupted sleep patterns, pick up and poo and pee for the umpteenth time...I do utter...Father give me grace. Her name can be elaborated upon as meaning "effortless beauty." Names are important to animals as they are to our children. When you all out their name you want that name to have a special meaning because each time you utter it aloud it is a blessing to them as they grow into the meaning of that name. Blessings to day.
I am blown away by how many people are following Abby and I. She had a great night last night. Almost making it through the night but yes, 3:00 a.m. is her bewitching hour and the time I drop the Abby name and call out "Grace." Love you guys.
