Monday morning and all is well
Had a surprise visitor last night at 3:10 last night. I heard a bang and got up to check it out and there on our back porch was a masked bandit. I had forgotten I had wrapped a cake up and stuck it out on the back porch because there was no room in the fridge to house it. It totally slipped my mind to bring it back inside and happily I went off to bed. The crash brought me to my senses and the dogs bolted. They all turned into wolverines. They are at that door, snarling, jumping, ready to take on this intruder. Even Miss Abby got into the event. I turned on the porch light and banged on the door to scare this little imp away. He was quite calm, stopped, looked straight at us (even though the dogs were going crazy) and then slowly limbered up the lattice and left. I had to wait quite a while for the dogs to calm down before I could go out and retrieve that cake. It took Eden the longest to calm herself. Her hunter instincts were at max and she was actually trembling, tale out straight, ready for the hunt. I am a little blurry eyed today to say the least. There is never a dull moment at our home. Critters galore abound here. On my way upstairs today to make the beds I noticed our resident squirrels have made a new nest on our back balcony. One of the pair had gone and plucked little branches of our apple tree to fortify their nest. The branches had apple blossoms on them and added quite a decorative touch. Last year the couple had baby squirrels which learned to be independent on my back screen door. They are the cutest little things and mom would lay up in the tree and watch her babies scamper around knowing that they were safe from the humans. Animals are so amazing and entertaining. It is a blessing to live in harmony with them, especially when they are in your own back yard. Kiss your pets today. (the tame ones anyway) :)
