The thunder rumbles on in the night

Noisy and sudden noises could be startling and upsetting to anybody – humans and creatures alike. However, humans understand and comprehend the truth that noises, for example thunder throughout thunderstorms, won’t be dangerous. Dogs, however, might not understand fully this fact and could become very unsettled, scared and experience a remarkably high anxiety level throughout thunderstorms. Like any caring dog owner, watching the one you love  shake and cower in fear isn’t any fun, and may be incredibly painful making one feel absolutely helpless.
Fortunately, you will find methods to aid your dog in feeling comfort and security throughout thunderstorms, or any kind of noisy noises for example fireworks, construction work nearby, or numerous other occasions. Taking your pet to some vet is a option, there might be a medicine that she or he can prescribe to assist cope with your dog anxiety that the pet is going through – a kind of Valium, for a moment.
Dog anxiety, throughout thunderstorms, is very a typical affliction for a lot of pets. The very first rumbles of thunder vibrate coming, your canine’s ears improve, a whimper escapes from them and before very long, they shoot to cover underneath the covers from the mattress, underneath the bed, or anywhere they are able to feel the smallest feeling of security. Your heart aches on their behalf and you’re feeling helpless. About the switch side, whenever your pet encounters dog anxiety, she or he may act the alternative and be irritated, because of this carrying out destructive and undesirable behavior for example destructive eating, incessant woofing or howling, and whimpering. This, consequently, will make you feel angry and frustrated.
Unfortunately our Yorkie Elijah suffers from thunderstorm anxiety.  Last night he experienced trauma when the storm was upon us.  He could hear the thunder from miles away and prepared himself for the onslaught.  He literally trembles from head to toe, hyperventilates and heads for the basement for cover.  I had to retrieve him, rub his little back and calm him down with  soothing words.  I sat with him and rubbed his back and told him all is well.  Often I sing over him to drown out the sounds of the heavens. I also pray with him so he will experience peace and calm.  Sometimes he actually looks like he is about to have a seizure he is so scared.  Poor little guy.  We did get through last night alright but I know the next time a storm appears there will be a repeat performance of this behaviour.

The other dogs, on the other hand,  just snored away in perfect peace and rest, although Abby Rose lifted her head a few times and barked at the claps of thunder.....go figure.  Anyhow peace reigns supreme in our home today and everyone is sprawled everywhere to catch up on the lost sleep last night.  Love your pets today.
