Man, oh man this can be a stressful season if you are not careful.
So many things to get done and so little time. Christmas is supposed to be a time for family, exchanging gifts and reflection of the true meaning of the season. How we miss the mark. A lot of people use it as an excuse for endless partying, over-extending their credit cards and trying to overcome the depression of coping with the season.
We all need to stop and be happy! Happy is almost a lost art. What makes you happy? What makes your family happy? Trust me, it is not the whirlwind events and stacks of presents. It is spending quality family time together and enjoying the beauty around us. Take time to drive around the neighbourhood to look at the gorgeous light displays. Sing some carols together. Keep your radio tuned to a station that promotes carols and goodwill. Whip up some cookies and eat them with your favourite drink. Drop some extra money into the kettle, drop off some new toys for children less fortunate, reach out to someone who will be alone for Christmas and invite them into your home. Extend yourself but do not over-extend. You know your limits so conduct yourself within those boundaries.
Christmas is for giving......not receiving....even though a little of that is nice. I promise you that if you reach out to others and give to them you will be happy. Take some time for yourself to rest, relax and give thanks for all your blessings this season.
Blessings and pass it on!
