Just finished cleaning my parrotlet's cage before I head off to get my hair done. Skye Blue is a female and she is the exact colour of my kitchen walls (a calming,muted blue), and Bobby Maeck (pronounced Mac) is a beautiful green shade and he matches my kitchen table chairs....go figure. They are wonderful little pets to have. They spend most of the day when I am here out of their cages and love to play with their toys on top of the cage. They are extremely smart and curious little creatures. I clipped their wings so their flight feathers are short and they cannot gain altitude if they decide to go for a flying adventure. I keep them on the end of my kitchen table so they are socialized and part of the family flock. They belong on the family credenza beside the table and often I place them there in front of the window so they can hear the birds outside chattering away and see then flying by. The window also lets in the afternoon sunlight and often I see them basking in the warmth of the sun pouring through that window. I am teaching them to say words and it has been a great (and intense) expenditure of quality time together. They should outlive me (or maybe not) as their life expectancy is 20+ plus. They are bequeathed to my oldest daughter if need be. Besides their regular seed/water/millet I feed them food from the table. They adore spaghetti and especially rice with soya sauce on it. pThey feel they have died and gone to heaven when I prepare them a plate of leftover Chinese food when we order in take-out for our family. There are only a few things I am unable to serve them and they perch on the side of their bowl as they happily munch away. Anyhow, I will weave the great life of Skye and Bobby into my rambling and post pictures of their antics as life goes forward. Have a blessed day and remember to kiss your pets today.
