The gift of life.....precious water

We are involved in a heat wave here in Canada.  We have extreme heat alerts and a humidex to boot.  My poor plants in my garden are  becoming withered looking and yearning for nice, long, cold drink.

I got up really early this morning before the heat started and watered both the front and back gardens.  The plants response were impressive.  The wilted and tired leaves perked up and the blossoms smiled to face the sun and the oncoming heat.  What a difference a little water can make in the life of a plant.

I played for about ten minutes with the birds.  The robins and blue jays hung around and I put the hose on mist.  I aimed it on the lawn and they fluttered and squawked and had a birdbath right there with me.  I did remember to fill up their real bird bath before I had completed my task.

The garden in the morning is a quiet, almost sacred place.  Sometimes you feel that you should take off your shoes because you are on holy ground.  The air is still and the only sounds are the creatures around you.  I took time to observe, meditate and pray.  Being in nature is being closer to God, in my opinion.

After I recoiled my hose into its rightful spot I too then indulged in a wonderful, long drink of cool water.  Living life needs water to sustain it so I partook with satisfaction.  Here is to today and the privilege of having beautiful, clean water in abundance for myself, my family, my pets and for my garden.  Cheers to you today and blessings.
