I love my books. I love to touch them, smell them. Read them late at night. I feel that my books are my friends and we have a great relationship. I keep the ones I love best in my bedroom and sometimes I go back several times and read the same book over and over. I use them to decorate my home, place them in strategic places so others can read them ( i.e. my coffee table or my staircase at Christmas time).
I also have ebooks on my iMac and iPad but I do not get the same feeling towards an ebook that I get from my paper books. It is hard to curl up in bed with my iPad and my iMac has to stay put because it is a desk model. I sometimes find myself nod off with my book spread across my chest like a perfect paper blanket and my friends in the book covering me, being still, until I regain consciousness and we can be together again. Ahhhh, the beauty of pages, a stimulating book cover and, oh yes, the last page. Some books I read with a pencil in hand and scribble little notes which I cannot do with an "e". Alas, I cannot trade my paper books for a plugged in ebook.
Maybe it's my age but I am trying so hard to pass the love of my paper books onto my grandkids and let them know what quality friends and adventures lay ahead as they open a good book and fall in love. Long live paper books!
