Know any good dance steps?

Dancing is so good for your soul.  The music, the beat, the lyrics, the all encompassing presence that music brings to you.  We need to stop more often and listen to the music.  Music is an international language and it is so surprising how soothing and therapeutic it can be.  Do you listen and enjoy music at all?   I love all genres and have music in my background.  When I was growing up my home was filled full of music.  My sister played the piano,  my dad the guitar and the fiddle. (It was not a violin but definitely a fiddle).  Our  whole family sang nearly all the time.

My dad was the first to teach me how to do the waltz and he even taught me to square dance!  He was the "caller" and when things got messed up down on the floor he would exit the stage, come into the square dance group  and dance through with them until they got back on track, while never missing a beat.  All the while he was still calling the dance into the microphone.

When I was seven my dad entered me into a talent contest.  There were 22 adult contestants and little old me.  I actually took the prize which was a guest appearance on a local television show.  My grade two teacher, Miss Boyce honoured my winning by allowing the entire grade two  class to stay up way passed their bedtime and watch me on t.v. that night.  How amazing was that?  That gesture was way  better than the talent contest prize for me!

Such fond and fun memories I have  wrapped around my musical journey.  Sometimes I hear the radio playing one of "dad's songs" and it brings tears to my eyes.  The bond of music is eternal.

The Bible says that God sang when He hung the stars. How cool is that?  He made music.   He sings.  We, the people receive it and carry it in our hearts all over the world.  Music is very spiritual.  I can turn on "tunes" from when I was growing up and remember almost all of the words.  How can that be when sometimes I can't remember what I did yesterday?  Somehow those words and melodies have staying power and are forever.

Turn on some music today.  Turn it up loud. Dance like nobody's looking and be free to enter into the web and flow of one of the most powerful mediums on earth....Music!

Have a great Monday and dance on!
